Travel and arrival
1. Which airport should I fly to?
Zurich Airport (ZRH), Geneva Airport (GVA), EuroAirport Basel (BSL) and Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) are options for travelling to Zermatt. Compare the flight and complete onward journey to choose the most convenient airport. Use these airport codes when searching for flights.
2. How long does it take to reach Zermatt from the airport?
As a guide, the journey by train takes around 3½ hours from Zurich Airport and around 4 hours from Geneva or Basel Airport. Please check the timetable for your specific connection. For Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), check the onward train or transfer connection for your travel date; journey times depend on the route and connections.
3. How do I get to Zermatt?
Zermatt is car-free and can be reached by train. If you are driving, park in Täsch and continue to Zermatt by shuttle train or an authorised taxi.
4. Can I drive directly to the hotel?
Private cars cannot drive into Zermatt. Drive to Täsch, park there and continue to Zermatt. For mountain properties, an additional mountain railway, cable car or walking route may be required; see the property-specific arrival information.
5. How long does the train from Täsch to Zermatt take?
The shuttle journey takes approximately 12 minutes. Trains normally run every 20 minutes; please check the current timetable for your travel date.
6. How do I get around Zermatt?
Zermatt is easy to explore on foot. Electric taxis and local electric buses are also available. Your hotel can advise on the best route from the station.
7. Where can I buy ski passes or mountain railway tickets?
You can buy them through the company “Zermatt Bergbahnen” directly. You may find the link here.
8. What is the walking route from Zermatt railway station to Hotel Alpina?
Hotel Alpina is at Englischer Viertel 5, 3920 Zermatt, in the village centre, less than ten minutes’ walk from the railway station. Use the hotel address for turn-by-turn directions. Please go to Hotel Tannenhof, Englischer Viertel 3, to check in; it is directly opposite Alpina.
9. Is there a lift, luggage storage and ski storage?
There is no lift from the train station and no elevator at the Hotel Alpina available. At check-in, the team at Hotel Tannenhof can advise where you may leave luggage or ski equipment.

11. Where do I check in?
Please check in at Hotel Tannenhof, Englischer Viertel 3, opposite Hotel Alpina. Check-in is from 15:00 to 21:00.
12. What should I do if I arrive late?
If you expect to arrive after 21:00, please contact the hotel before your arrival on +41 27 967 10 50. Reception is not staffed around the clock, so the team needs to provide you with the appropriate check-in instructions.
Rooms, families and pets
13. What is available in the rooms?
Hotel Alpina offers single, double and triple rooms. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, radio, hairdryer, safe, shower gel and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have a shared shower and toilet, while others have a private bathroom. Please select or request a room with a private bathroom if this is important to you. Baby cots are available on request and must be confirmed by the hotel.
Dining and included meals
14. Is breakfast included, and where is it served?
Breakfast is available for an additional CHF 25 per person and can be booked at reception. The breakfast buffet is served at Hotel Tannenhof opposite Alpina. Please check your booking confirmation in case breakfast is already included in your particular package.

15. Can I use services at Hotel Tannenhof?
Yes, for the services specifically offered to Alpina guests: check-in takes place at Hotel Tannenhof, and you can book its breakfast buffet for CHF 25 per person. You can also dine à la carte at Golden Lok, the Italian restaurant in Hotel Tannenhof, subject to its opening hours and availability. Other Tannenhof services should only be promised after confirmation.
